The Phoenix

My daughter Emily is involved in LARP (live action role play) and has been making her own costumes, which have been admired and she was commissioned to make a phoenix costume. This is the first time she has fried working with Liquid latex. This was used to make the face mask so that it is comfortable and flexible, it is also lined with soft fabric. The house covered in red fluff by the time she had finished with the feathers and fur!

Here are a few photos of her modelling the costume in the garden, back in September. I couldn't reveal the photos until her friend had unveiled the costume at the first event.

What's next? I believe it's a Magpie.

Terrific Trio

'You 3 are the most Terrific Trio' the title of my latest layout, made in Linda's class at Jill's Cardinal Colours weekend crop last weekend.

  This is a photo of a pencil drawing my father drew of the children back in 1995. Andrew, Catherine and Emily went to stay with Mum and Dad for a few days in the summer and they presented me with this picture as a Christmas gift.

I changed the layout slightly as I was using a landscape photo.

The Owl and The Pussycat

The Owl and the Pussycat was the theme for Linda's Card Class at Jill's Cardinal Colours Weekend Crop last weekend.

Here are the cards I made with the kit in the class using Woodware stamps, and My Mind's Eye - Miss Caroline - Howdy Doody papers.

This one involved some origami

We used various punches, sizzlet dies, ribbon, card candi, googly eyes, flat backed pearls and gems and chalk ink.

English Rose - Lake House

Using Lake House papers from Kaiser Craft I designed this class page for the Cardinal Colours Crop last weekend. The photo of my Mum was taken by my Dad.

I used a paper doily

Chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, two sizes of roses and two sizes of rose leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts.

A cameo made with Lite Fimo air dry clay and a cake decorating mold painted with Acrylic paints and a scalloped oval cut with the Cricut.

90th Birthday Card

Happy birthday to my Auntie Phyl!

I made this cards for the family to send out to Phyl in New Zealand for her 90th birthday celebrations.

I was inspired by one of the Cricut magazines (April '12) and a card made by Shantaie Fowler. However I don't have any of the cartridges she used so set about finding something similar within my own collection.

I used the watering can from the 'Country Life cartridge and I added a tag from Tags Bags, Boxes and More. The '90' was cut with the 'Storybook cartridge.

The flowers were punched with a Stampin Up punch, the leaf fronds are from a Martha Stewart punch
My greeting is stamped with a Lili of the Valley stamp, then cut out and mounted on a circle punched with a Stampin' Up punch and then a scalloped circle punched with a Woodware punch, as are the flower stamen and the corner rounder punches.

I used a smaller Stampin' Up circle punch to cut a circle in the mat behind the can. The ribbon, gems and studs are from my stash. The papers are from Bo Bunny's Garden Girl Collection. Black, green and Kraft Bazzill were also used. The 8" x 8" card blank is from Craft Creations. The letter stickers are from My Little Shoebox. Everything was inked with Colorbox chalk inks.

Afternoon Tea Card Class - Cardinal Colours

Toady I teaching this card class at the Cardinal Colours Autumn Weekend Crop. 2012 is a big year for Britain, with the Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. What better way to celebrate than with another great British tradition – Afternoon Tea?

This Card class has many different techniques involved to make a pretty set of five tea party themed cards. The generous kit means there are enough products to decorate many more cards too.

Everything from jam and cream to tea pots and doilies, create cards with stamping, decoupage, die cutting and more. Many of the products supplied are from the Dovecraft's Tea Party Collection. 

I decided to use a variety of different techniques while sticking to one range of papers. I picked the pretty papers, stamps, buttons, gems & pearls, glittered decoupage images and bakers twine from Papermania's Tea Party Collection.

2. Stack of Teacups Card - Patterned papers, Decoupage sheet, Martha Stewart corner punch, gems, Cricut, baker's twine, Craft Creations card blank.

3. Tea Pot Card - Patterned papers, Stampin' Up punches, Flat backed pearl, ribbon, embossing folder, doily, Kraftin Kimmy greetings stamps, 3D foam pads, Cricut for teapot, Craft Creations card blank.

4. Cup Cakes Card - Patterned papers, decoupage sheet, Ribbon, button Baker's twine, deckle edged scissors, 3D foam pads, Craft Creations card blank.

5. Tea Cup Card - Patterned Papers, Stampin' Up Tea Shoppe Stamps, flat backed pearls, Cricut for tea bag and tag, Baker's twine, Martha Stewart border punch, ribbon, Stampin' Up oval and oval scallop punches, Craft Creations for card blank.

I also made some additional cards which can be made with the left over bits from the kits and some additional items.

6. Strawberry Jam Card - Patterned papers, Cricut for card blank, decoupage sheet, ribbon, 3D foam pads.

7. Heart Biscuits Card - Patterned Papers, heart doily, ribbon, decoupage sheet, Craft Creations card blank, Stampin' Up punch and greeting.

8. Cup Cake Card - Patterned papers, doily, Lili of the Valley Greeting punch, button, Baker's twine, Cup Cakes made from Lite Fimo, Martha Stewart molds and acrylic paints, flat backed pearls, Craft Creations card blank

Happy Birthday Mum!

Today is my lovely Mum's birthday and I made her this card. I can't be with her today so I gave it to her a few days ago. Hope you have a lovely birthday Mum. xxx

Finding a card like this in the April 2012 Cricut magazine (created by Aimee Kidd), I decided to adapt it to make this card for Mum. I wanted mine to be much larger than the original so set about altering the measurements of all the cuts and changed the bird and some of the decorations. I used the Birdhouse from the Cindy Loo cartridge and the bird from the Straight from the Nest cartridge.

I used Bazzill to cut my card base and Fancy Pants - Beach Babe papers for the other cuts and punching.

Also used:
Martha Stewart lacy border punch, Woodware scalloped  circle and frond punches,Stampin' Up circle punch, Flat backed pearls, Ribbons, Colorbox chalk inks, a heart shaped button,a  Lili of the Valley greetings stamp, Tim Holtz note holder pin thing-a-me-jig and some bakers twine.

This is one of the cards I made for this month's DT gallery for Scrapology. Please take a look at the blog if you want more details of the challenge and prize.

The challenge has been set by Shabana from Mei Flowers, and involves using this bingo card from Chrissy at Merly Impressions.
The idea is to choose three items in a row to include on your card, I chose layers, lace and Pearls, but notice it also fits lace, flowers and Punches or die cuts.
