Happy Birthday Emily!

I spent a great weekend at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre last weekend, with my lovely crafty friends. Great company, lots of laughter and good food.

I even achieved some scrapbooking and card making, here is one of the cards I made in preparation for Emily's 22nd birthday today.

The papers and pencil sticker are from Basic Grey's Oxford collection - perfect for my book loving, writer daughter.

The image and quote stamp are from a set Linda lent me (thanks Linda x) Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls - Jayden Loves To Journal from Quixotic Paperie

Spellbinder and Sizzix Dies for the shaped digital card

6" x 6" card blank from Craftwork Cards

The rub - on letters, ribbon, gems and charm are from my stash.

Wishing you a very happy birthday Emily and look forward to seeing you soon. xxx

St. Katharine's Dock

Alan and I have been going through some old photo albums and scanning the photos to preserve them. We found this one he took of me at St Katharine's Dock in London when we first started going out together - so this will have been taken in about 1981.

This layout was also made at our weekend retreat last weekend.

I used:
Patterned papers and element stickers by Authentique from the Anchored (nautical) collection.
Divine Twine - Airmail from Papermaze
Memory Box die
Anchor charm
Distress ink

Gingerbread House Fun - Under Construction!

My great niece and nephew - Jessica and Jamie came to see us at the beginning of February and we had fun building an (IKEA) gingerbread house and decorating it. Although J & J spent a lot of time mixing icing with different colours and flavours until some of them were inedible! I took a few pictures of the event and made a scrapbook page while away at crop weekend last weekend.

I used the Cricut to create the background shapes and the little house.

I used:
Patterned papers, Number Stickers & Element Stickers by Basic Grey - Hopscotch
Swirly Stamps by Basic Grey
Cardstock by Bazzill
Ink - Memento & Distress Ink
Letter stickers by American Crafts - Foam Thickers
Other - Flat-backed pearls, Liquid Pearls, Stickles

I was inspired by this page by Mitsue Iwata which I saw on the Basic Grey website some time ago.

Thanks for looking.
What shall we make next time J & J?

Dots! - Happy Birthday Anita!

The Scrapology Card challenge for the month of March has been set by our talented Design Team Member - Karen Leonard KAZY 1 has challenged us to use polka dots and or circles on any type of card. So look at one or both elements and maybe introduce shaped cards. I decided to make the most of this challenge to make a card for my lovely friend Anita.

We are away at East Park this weekend with our scrapbooking friends and by now Anita should have received her cards from us all - Happy Birthday Anita. x

I looked through my papers and discovered I have a bit of an addiction to dots and stripes! In the end I selected Basic Grey's Serenade papers and stickers together with a Prima Doll Stamp and Tag. These were mounted on a tall card from Craftwork Cards. I coloured the image with my Promarkers including shading the stamped and cut patterned papers.

I added a selection of  blossoms and cut leaves with a Martha Stewart punch. The lace a grid stamps are both from Kaisercraft ans he greeting is from Lili of the Valley. I also added some texture paste through a chicken wire stencil from The Crafters Workshop, ribbon, a kraft cardstock tag, Distress Ink and some string!

Here is KAZY 1's amazing card:

Pop over to Scrapology to find out more about the challenge, to see the other DT cards and details of the prize.

Old Friends

Vanessa designed the layout for this month's Papermaze crop and I went along with a few photos I thought might work, but this one of Catherine, Lisa and myself in our nurse training days was perfect for the colours of the inks and papers. The three of us shared a flat after our second year of training and so I think this must have been taken in 1979 or 1980.

The kit contained:
Cardstock - Bazzill white and Natural
Patterned Paper - Dear Lizzy - Polkadot Party - Delightful Display, Grand Garland & Cutesy Cupcake
Flowers - Prima
Other  - Dew drops, doily, twine, ribbon

We used:
Border Punch - EK Success
Corner Rounder Punch - Woodware
Butterfly Punch - Martha Stewart
Die - Memory Box
Distress Stain and Distress Ink
Diamond Stencil

I added:
American Craft Thickers - letter stickers.

Thanks for looking.

52 Christmas Cracker 2104 - Week 11

Back today with my Christmas version of the week 11 challenge from Kool Kitty Musings Blog . Natty was inspired by lots of wedding pins on Pinterest recently and so this week we have been challenged to use the traditional wedding rhyme. The aim is to include all four elements in a card design.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

So how did I do?
Something old - The papers from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses collection and the very old snowman rub-on I found in my stash.

Something new - New greetings stamps from Dovecraft.
Something borrowed - I borrowed a square die set from Vanessa at the crop yesterday.
Something blue - Papers, rub on, sticker, Stickles, gem and pearls. Although I had to include blue, I also wanted some more traditional Christmas colours, and using this BG collection was ideal.

Paper & element sticker: Basic Grey - Eskimo Kisses
    Cardstock - Bazzill
Stamps: Dovecraft - Tis the Season
    Die: Sizzix
    Ink: Distress Ink
    Rub - on - E-Z Rub-on Transfer - Silly Snowmen with glitter
Other: 3 D foam pads & card blank.
    Thanks for looking.

On Tour - Black Coffee

Postcards from Tour
These are the postcards we have received from our daughter Catherine. She has a very busy and exciting year as Deputy Stage Manager with Bill Kenwright Ltd. on tour with their production of Agatha Christie's Black Coffee for the 2014 tour. Robert Powell is Hercule Poirot.

As you can see from the postcards some places being more picturesque than others, so occasionally she was unable to buy a picture postcard. These will form a lovely record of her experience, together with her photographs.

Catherine in Cardiff
Today we took her to Eastbourne where she will be at The Devonshire Park Theatre for a week. Since the beginning of January she spent two weeks in Windsor, followed by a week in Cambridge. Then she moved onto a week in each of the following - Bath, Wolverhampton, Richmond and Stoke. Catherine has spent a lot of time travelling on trains!

She had a week's holiday before we helped her out by taking her to Cardiff and we spent a lovely few days there with her.  Most of the time she is working from Monday to late Saturday night and many of her Sunday's are spent travelling.

Tonight she starts in Eastbourne, and won't be home for six weeks as she heads for Southend before Edinburgh, York, Malvern and Truro.  She will be home for a night before she goes off to Guildford, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Billingham, Blackpool before coming south again. Next she heads off to Brighton, Croydon and Cheltenham. We are travelling with her to Dublin for a holiday while she is busy with the show there, before dropping her in Shewsbury for another week. Birmingham, Newcastle are the last two weeks before a summer break.

Working out accommodation and travel has been a major operation. It is certainly an interesting and exciting way of seeing the country!

We wish her luck with the rest of the tour.

If your are still with me - Thanks for reading!

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 10

Over on the Kool Kitty Musings Blog the week 10 challenge requires the inclusion of three prompts which have been picked from the prompt jar:

Here are some suggestions from the blog:
Wood - not just real wood, but perhaps wood grain patterns, branches, trees.
Plastic - no doubt you have plenty of plastic embellishments to choose from - buttons, pearls, etc. but also think about using acetate as an option.
Stickers - well that one's self explanatory.

I have used wood grain paper from Simple Stories, plastic Christmas fairy light bulbs (which I have had in my stash for many years), and feature stickers (for eyes, these had also been in my stash for a long time and had lost their stick!). I also used a Woodware scalloped circle punch, Christmas papers from Bo Bunny, Cricut and the Hoot 'n' Holler & 3 Birds on Parade cartridges, Stickles, scraps of Bazzill cardstock and distress Ink.

Thanks for looking.
