All Dressed Up

Here is my last layout using the Papermaze kit for February. This time I have used the teal / turquoise / aqua papers together with the Echo Park, Coffee and Friends - Whiteboard paper.

The photos show my daughter and her husband ready to go to a friend's evening wedding reception.

Happy 50th Birthday Elaine

My brother asked me to make a card for his wife Elaine's 50th birthday earlier this month. I took inspiration from Kath Evans on the Sizzix website and Cathie Cowles on her blog.

I used watercolour paper and a selection of Distress Oxide Inks. The dies are a Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits set called Happy Hour.

I used Glossy Accents to make the glasses look shine, and a touch of Stickles to add sparkle to the ice cubes and fizzy drinks.

I splashed some Dylusions Black Marble Ink spray over the background paper, before adding the elements.

The letters were cut using Tonic Studios Windsor letter and number dies, and a Hero Arts greeting die.

Love This Little Bug

When I saw this photo of Scarlett dressed as a ladybird it reminded me of the Doodlebug Designs Ladybug collection I had stored away in my stash.

I built the layout up with a gutted sheet of Lava Bazzill (2.5cm deep), followed by a gutted sheet of Avalanche (29.5cm x 29.5cm & 2.5cm deep), then a gutted sheet of Doodlebug Designs paper (red with white dots), (29cm x 29cm & 3cm deep). Then I returned to the Avalanche Bazzill and trimmed it to 25cm x 25cm, this piece was splattered with Dylusions Black Marble Shimmer Ink.

The photo was mounted onto some of the Lava Bazzill.   From the Doodlebug Designs Lovebugs collection - All My Heart paper, I trimmed the ladybird image and applied it over another square from the sheet. The 3 x 3 hearts image was trimmed and mounted over some of the red and white dotted paper.

I fussy cut the LOVE image for part of the title. From some Doodlebug Designs sticker sheets I chose a tag, and placed a gem brad through the hole. This was applied to the layout with 3D foam tape, I added two words for the title with Black Beetle Monochromatic Teensy Type cardstock alpha stickers. 

After arranging all the elements on the page I added Scarlett's name with some ladybug Monochrome Teensy Type cardstock alpha stickers. Then I decorated the page with a selection of red, pink and black gems. 

The dated was added with more of the Black Beetle Monochromatic Teensy Type cardstock alpha stickers.

The Good Life

Here is my first layout using the pretty Papermaze Kit for the month of July. Lovely pastel shades of lemon, lilac, aqua, blue and pink, with much bolder purple. Together with the extra Bazzill pack, the kit is available in the shop from today.

This photo of me was captured recently in the garden by my husband - he says it's me in my element! We certainly have plenty of garden here in our Suffolk home to keep me busy!

The layout was inspired by the cut file which I cut once as it is presented, then flipped horizontally for a second cut to give me a mirror image. The cut file is from Handipaper and the inspiration from a layout by Nathalie DeSousa.

Christingle

For this layout I used this old favourite photo from 1995, when the children were dressed up for the Christingle Service at our local church. I have scrapped this again so I can place a layout in each of the children's scrapbook albums.  I'm not sure the photo does justice to the amount of sparkle in these trees!

The Legend of the Icelandic Yule Lads

This is my 4th Christmas layout made with the December Papermaze kit. This time I have used photos from our holiday to Iceland last Christmas. We learnt much about the legends and folk law surrounding the festivities from the tour guides, one of them read the fairy stories to us on the long journeys through the snow covered mountains.

Mary Poppins

Today I have created a layout for the third challenge in the SCRAP IN COLOUR - For The Love Of Pretty Paper (Facebook UK Scrapbooking Group) - National Scrapbook Day challenges held from 24th to 26th May 2019.

This challenge was to called ALL THE COLOURS. The idea being to use up your open packs of alphas by creating a layout with a multi-coloured title. However, you must include the colour RED somewhere on your layout as well.

My layout was another for the Disneyland Album.

I used Bazzill cardstock in blue and red.
Stickers and papers from Carta Bella's Practically Perfect collection.
Alphabets stickers from Colorbox, Basic Grey, Simple Stories, Pink Paislee and several others that were no longer in packets so I don't know the make!

The Blue cardstock was softened with some Picket Fence Distress Ink. and a few drops of Dylusions white ink.

I used Sizzix Dies for the rosettes, and added scraps of pink ribbon. Then lots of Nuvo drops, gems and pearls were added from my stash. I joined the bunting stickers with a piece of Baker's Twine.

Happy Birthday Teenager!

I wanted to make a card for Jessica's 13th birthday, and I was inspired by the Basic Grey Fresh Cut papers I had on my desk from completing a layout for Scarlett's Birthday layout.

For the card I took a white card blank and using patterned papers, cut three different sized deckle edges rectangles using a set of Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits dies. I inked all the edges with Black Soot Distress ink. The greeting was stamped with Archival ink and Avery Elle Clear Stamp (Sentimental Too), across the largest rectangle.

The rectangles were stuck in lace on the card, then I flicked Black Ink using a Dylusions Spray.

Using the Sizzix dies from the detailed butterflies thinlits set, I cut a Base butterfly from patterned paper and a matching detailed butterfly from Black cardstock. I built these up on the card using 3D foam pads, adding antenna in the form of black stamen.

I added two words using the letter stickers from the Fresh Cut collection. The large number was cut with some dies from Crafter's Companion.

I still had some left over papers from the collection, so continued making cards in the same way to add to my stock. I used up all the sheets of paper from the collection that had already been cut into. A good bit of stash busting!!

Birds of a Feather

This month's Papermaze crop kit was designed by Jacqui Noon. We had great fun finger painting and working with this lovely Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds stamp set.

I chose this cheerful photo of Linda, myself, Anita ans Sue on a crafty chopping trip in Sussex a few years ago.

We used a selection of Dylusions acrylic paints together with a sheet of Kaisercraft Costal Eacape - Sea. I used the same title as Jacqui as is applied to my photo. I used some Basic Grey alphabet stickers which were white and inked them with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink.

Thanks to Jacqui for the inspiration - great to try something new.

Fresh Herbs

I love to grow my own and so my daughter Emily sent me a kit for growing some kitchen herbs for my birthday in May last year. It was a delightful picket fence box, which holds three pots for growing individual herbs. It has a little shed at the end to hold tiny tools. The photo in my layout shows the herbs some months later.

I created this layout in response to the Dusty Attic Blog - June Mood Board challenge.

I created my background with two sheets of Bazzill cardstock - the base is cream and has been trimmed all around with a Martha Stewart punch around the page punch set. The top layer started out white! I trimmed this down to fit inside my cream border and set about creating a background using stencils (Tim Holtz and PaperArtsy -JOFY) and Distress Paint (Picket Fence, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain). Then I added colour with Distress Inks (Shabby Shutters and Bundled Sage). After this was all dry I spritzed a little Dylusions Ink (Black Marble and White Linen). I stitched round the edges of the finished cardstock before sticking to the larger piece.













Behind the tear in my cardstock is a small piece of 'Raspberries' paper from Maja Designs Coffee in the Arbour collection, these colours blend well with the colours I chose from the mood board and my inks and paints, and a tiny hint of the red.

My choice of Dusty Attic embelishments for this page was Chicken Wire 12" x 12", Flutterbies #3 and Flower Buds, all from Papermaze. The butterflies were painted with a little Picket Fence Distress Paint, then some red ink lightly dusted on the the butterfly wings followed by a fine layer of glitter. Some beads of glossy accents were added to the seed heads of the flower buds.

I tucked two halves of a small doily under the photo. My date is Prima number stickers on a scrap of white Bazzill surrounded by a metal label plate from Tim Holtz.

My lettering is Making Memories Simply Fabulous, velvet alphabet stickers in peapod for 'HERBS', and Doodlebug Designs Inc. Fancy Fonts letter stickers in black cherry for 'FRESH'.

I enjoyed making this layout, and creating my own background for a change rather than using patterned papers.
