52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 17

This week we have another sketch for inspiration. Please go to Kool Kitty Musings Blog for full details of the challenge.

My papers and stickers are from October Afternoon's Farm Girl collection.

I cut the lid off the large jar sticker and backed both pieces with card so they were no longer stickers. I stuck the jar down with 3D foam pads just around the edges leaving a slot from the top.

I then stuck the lid to a strip of card from another October afternoon paper for messages. This slips inside the jar with the lid back in place. I added the greeting sticker to the lid. I added the Raspberry jam, and flower stickers to the bottom left as accents to the main sticker. The scalloped strip is also from the sticker sheet.

I added a ribbon bow, glitter glue and liquid pearls.

Back with my Christmas card tomorrow!

Freebies - Birthday Card for Sister

I made another DT card for the Scrapology Freebies Challenge, This time I used a Square Pyrimage given away with Creative Cardmaking in Issue 38. I also used papers from the same magazine. These items were promoting Crafter's Companion - Popcorn's Pals papers and die cuts. I'm not really very fond of Pyrimage but thought I would give it a go for this challenge.

My sister is mad about cats and it was her birthday a few days ago, so I made this for her.

I added:
Card Blank & 3D Foam Pads - Craft Creations
Letter Stickers - Simple Stories
Decorative Pins
Gems
Punch Around the Page Punches - Martha Stewart
Button
Ribbon
Distress Ink

Thanks for looking and I hope you had a very good birthday Sylvie.
Please see details of the challenge on the Scrapology Blog.

Freebies for Easter - Cotton Candy

I made this selection of Easter cards using the free papers from Simply Homemade Magazine Issue 3. They were from the Cotton Candy Kisses collection by NitWit.  I made six cards and still have enough left for a few more. I have quite a collection of free papers and magazines stored away, but the reason I used these was for my contribution to the design team gallery on Scrapology for April.
The challenge is to use freebies from magazines to make a card.

I added:
Buttons
Twine
Stamps by Lili of the Valley & Paper Artsy Jofy
Distress Inks
Gems and Pearls
Punches - Martha Stewart, Woodware and Stampin' Up
Ribbons

Here are the cards again:

Thanks for looking and please take a look over on Scrapology for details of the challenge.

Marjorie

Time for another heritage layout.

I am still working through the lovely old photos I acquired recently. This one is Marjorie Phyllis Holder, she was one of my Grandfather's thirteen siblings, so she was my great Aunt.

Marjorie was born in Bromley in 1908 to Frederick Holder and Emma Jane Florence (Williams).

Marjorie married Gordon Stebbing in 1928.

I used:
Basic Grey Eva Collection papers, Element Stickers, Alphabet Stickers and chipboard shapes
Basic Grey swirl stamps
Memory Box die for the olive branches
A mix of roses and other flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts

Dovecraft Metal Butterfly with added gems
Flat-backed pearls
Prima Stamp
Memento and Distress Inks

I made another layout with a photo of Marjorie's sister Rose, but this is under wraps for the next Scrapology challenge!

Mystery Shopper

Time for a bright fun layout featuring my son Andrew when he was little. We used to go to the Playbin Toy Library in Erith with many of the other families from the Twins Club. One week the children chose to bring the shopping trolley home and they all had great fun. Although the photo is not of brilliant quality (rather dark), I love Andrew's expression and he went shopping in the hallway at home, still in his pyjamas!

I used:
Basic Grey patterned papers and element stickers from the Green At Heart collection
Woodgrain paper from Simple Stories which was grey and inked to make it brown
Various letter stickers from Making Memories and American Crafts
Cricut for the tree cut using the Create a Critter 2 Cartridge
Buttons
Twine
Distress Ink
Black gel pen for doodling
Sizzix die for journalling label
Ribbon

I was inspired by this layout I found on the Basic Grey website by Frances Sylvia and have stuck to it quite closely using papers from the same collection. I created my own tree and used different labels and letter stickers.

ALPHAS !

Our cropping group the Blossoms went away for our annual retreat weekend in March. We usually take a small gift along for one-another, this year I made these initial alphas as we has been looking at photo prop ideas.

I saw an article in an old copy of Creating Keepsakes Magazine:

I made an initial for each of my scrapping friends going to the retreat. So between Hobbycraft and The Range, I managed to obtain all our initials in 8" paper mache 3D letters. I painted each letter with acrylic paint and covered the front with patterned papers, then added names and embellishments from my stash. Each one was created in that persons favourite colours:

... 3 x A's, ...

... 3 x L's ...

... 3 x J's ...

... an S ...

... a W ...

... and a G.

This combination didn't allow for any clever spelling out of words, but I did my best!

... weekend away was arranged for the ...

We went to East Park on 21st March which happened to be
Anita's birthday - any excuse for cake and celebrations!

We had a great time enjoying ourselves,
it's the ...
... on theses weekends!

Much time was spent ...
sing & laughing

so we ended up with ...
... ache!

We set off in our cars packed to bursting with our ...

... and we tried not to ...
... behind.

Once we arrived we stayed within the impressive ...
s
of Easthampsted Park.

Some of us with out initials

We also had lots of other props!

Thanks for looking.

Craftilicious Carry All III

Do you remember my blog post about my first Craftilicious Carry All I made for myself and my sewing bits and pieces?

There followed a second one I made for Catherine in pink and black as requested. Both of these were made in January and I purchased materials to make one for Emily at the same time, but only got around to making this at the end of March.

Happily I got time to finish her bag in woodland animal themed fabrics just in time to send to her for her birthday.

They always look better when they are in use full of equipment, but it was good to post as it folds flat easily when empty.

Happy birthday Emily and I look forward to joining you to try out the new over locker!
